Why Is Testing So Important

Industrial hemp is a form of the cannabis family. For testing, the same methodologies are applied as those used for medical and recreational marijuana. Testing can determine the potency and profile of the sample. Terpenes can determine overall taste and aroma. Much of the other lab testing is intended for delivering a safe product to the consumer,

Cannabis plants can scavenge heavy metals from the ground and be subject to dangerous pesticide use while growing. Samples can also be inspected for microbiological problems such as the presence of mold and bacteria.

Finally, since the end result of some of hemp is extraction to produce hemp oil or CBD-based products, there is a need for determining the presence or absence of residual solvents.
